The simplest way of understanding the structure is dividing it up into a beginning, middle, and an ending. Such easy parallels between Christ and Buddha are, in the end, are misleading and distort the teachings of the Church. For example, it is said in the tantras, if a lama is acquisitive, ambitious, subject to conflicting emotions, full of pride, jealousy or competitiveness, then it is not appropriate for a student to rely on such a teacher regardless of who that lama may be.

He studied for a while with two famous gurus of the day, but found their practices lacking. He was known henceforth as the Buddha, or “Enlightened One.” His is the Middle Path, rejecting both luxury and asceticism. In Vajrayana Buddhism, this large umbrella (atapatra) was even deified into the thousand-armed, -footed goddess Sitapatra, whose name literally means 'the white umbrella.' In Tibet, depending on their status, various dignitaries were entitled to different parasols, with religious heads being entitled to a silk one and secular rulers to a parasol with embroidered peacock feathers.

It is the rituals that take participants on a journey which have structure. Some parents might disagree with the school system or are afraid that their child might be affected by drugs proliferation, carouses in schools. Not because I’m self-important, but in recognition of the one true reality: no self. In this way, it is all about the quality of wisdom. On such matters, Buddha left the choice up to the individual. Again you generalise here: „teachers need students for their ongoing credibility and sustenance“ but what prove do you have for this claim?
